LTTE Revival Case: NIA Chargesheets 14th Accused Working In Tamil Film Industry

The NIA included Lingam A, also known as Adilingam, as the 14th accused in the chargesheet in the case.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) chargesheeted one more accused in the case related to the resurgence of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in Sri Lanka and India. The NIA included Lingam A, also known as Adilingam, as the 14th accused in the chargesheet in the case. This development brings the total number of accused individuals in the case to 16.

According to ANI, National Investigation Agency (NIA) said, the agency has chargesheeted one more accused in the case related to the revival of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam (LTTE) in Sri Lanka and India. Lingam A alis Adilingam is the 14th accused to be chargesheeted in the case, in which 16 persons have been arraigned as accused so far.

In July last year, the NIA registered the case of illegal drugs and arms trade.

Lingam, a Chennai resident, was closely associated with Gunasekharan, another accused, and allegedly served as a benami for his illicit transactions involving the laundering of proceeds from drug and arms trade between India and Sri Lanka, as per a report on PTI.

Additionally, Lingam allegedly forged identity documents for members of the racket in an effort to legalize their unlawful residency in India, as previously stated by the agency's spokesperson.

According to the official, all the accused in the case were actively involved in the illegal drug trade in India and Sri Lanka. They allegedly utilized the proceeds from the drug trade to finance the procurement and accumulation of weapons, aiming to revive the LTTE in both countries, as stated by the spokesperson.
