Karnataka HC Dismisses Veena Vijayan's Plea Against SFIO Probe, Union Ministers Applaud Verdict

Both BJP Ministers emphasised that the court's ruling exposed alleged attempts by those involved in corruption to evade scrutiny by raising allegations of harassment against central agencies.

In a further blow to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's daughter Veena, Karnataka HC dismissed her petition against the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) probe on Friday. Justice M Nagaprasanna rejected the plea filed by Exalogic Solutions, affiliated with Veena T, challenging the Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs' directive for the SFIO investigation into the company's affairs. Following this, Union Minister V Muraleedharan and Union MoS Rajeev Chandrasekhar highlighted Karnataka HC's decision regarding the investigation into Exalogic. Both ministers emphasised that the court's ruling exposed alleged attempts by those involved in corruption to evade scrutiny by raising allegations of harassment against central agencies.

On Karnataka High Court's response, Union Minister V Muraleedharan said, "This brings out the fact that those people who are corrupt, who are looting the public exchequer. They try to raise the boggy of harassment of the central agencies when this corruption is caught. So this is a clear case of such an incident. The chief minister's daughter takes a bribe of Rs 1.75 crores. She is unable to produce any documents for what purpose this money was taken and approaches the court asking the court to put a break on the investigation that is happening."

"The court says the investigation can go on. So this clearly brings out the fact that the corrupt can't raise the boggy of harassment of the central agencies and escape. So this harassment theory has fallen flat. They should apologize to the people of Kerala for raising such false allegations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government," he said.

Union MoS Rajeev Chandrasekhar also welcomed the decision of Karnataka HC. He said, "I welcome the decision of Karnataka High Court to allow this investigation of this very scam of sitting CM Pinarayi Vijayan's daughter's company, receiving mysterious payments without delivering any service."
