Shivakumar To Discuss Karnataka Guv’s ‘High-Handedness’ With Cong Leadership, Says ‘Will Pray For His Wisdom’
When asked about the ongoing friction between the Governor and the state government, Shivakumar remarked, "I pray to God to bless the Governor with wisdom."
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar expressed his discontent on Friday over Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot's recent actions, particularly the sanction for prosecution against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) case. Shivakumar stated that he would pray for "wisdom" for the Governor and vowed to brief the Congress high command in New Delhi about what he termed as the Governor's "heavy-handedness."
When asked about the ongoing friction between the Governor and the state government, Shivakumar remarked as per IANS, "I pray to God to bless the Governor with wisdom."
Shivakumar, who is in his visit to New Delhi with CM Siddaramaiah, emphasised the need to inform the party leadership about the recent developments in the MUDA case and the perceived misuse of the Governor's office. "We will inform the high command and party leadership about how the Governor's office is being misused," he stated, as per the report.
Shivakumar also criticized the Governor for returning around 15 bills that had been passed by the state legislature. "If he has any clarifications, he should seek them and question them—I'm not saying that's wrong. But why should there be a government in a democratic system if bills are sent back at the insistence of BJP MLAs? How is that tenable? This is what's happening, and we need to discuss it," he asserted.
Despite the tensions, Shivakumar remained resolute, saying, "Even if attempts are being made to bring down the government, nothing is going to happen. We will not remain silent and will carry out our duties."
Meanwhile, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D K Shivakumar are expected to meet Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on Friday. They are also likely to discuss on MUDA 'scam'.
