Bengaluru To Get South Asia's Tallest Structure — Check Out The Whopping Cost Of The 250-Metre Skydeck
Karnataka's Minister of Law and Parliamentary Affairs HK Patil confirmed the government's commitment to the project noting that the Skydeck will be a landmark attraction in the city.
In a significant development for Karnataka’s capital, the state Cabinet on Thursday approved the Bengaluru Skydeck project, which is set to become South Asia's tallest structure at an estimated height of 250 meters. The proposed Skydeck, towering over iconic structures like Delhi's Qutub Minar, will stand three times higher than the historical monument and will surpass the CNTC Presidential Tower, currently Bengaluru's tallest building at approximately 160 meters, according to a report on NDTV.
Karnataka's Minister of Law and Parliamentary Affairs HK Patil confirmed the government's commitment to the project, noting that the Skydeck will be a landmark attraction in the city. Although the exact details of the amenities within the Skydeck are yet to be disclosed, it is expected to include a luxurious shopping complex.
The government initially planned to construct the Sky Deck in central Bengaluru, but two major challenges emerged. First, securing 25 acres of land in the heart of the city proved difficult. Second, several areas in Bengaluru are occupied by Defense Ministry establishments, which opposed the construction of such a tall structure, as per the report.
This ambitious venture with a budget of Rs 500 crores aims to enhance the city's infrastructure and offer panoramic 360-degree views of the tech hub.
The Karnataka cabinet has also approved a two-way tunnel from Hebbal to Silkboard Junction in Bengaluru, with an estimated cost of Rs 1,269 crores.
Meanwhile, the announcement regarding the projects has come at a time when Opposition accused ruling Congress-led Karnataka government of alleged corruption in MUDA 'scam' and Valmiki 'scam'. On Friday, Congress high command has also summoned Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar amid these allegations and ongoing tension in the state. The CM and Deputy CM are expected to meet Congress president Kharge and LoP in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.
