'Clearly Hold CM Responsible': INLD Leader Pins Blame On Khattar Govt After Haryana Party Chief Shot Dead

INLD leader Abhay Chautala said the party will ask the Haryana government to initiate a CBI probe into the incident.

New Delhi: Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader Abhay Chautala pinned the blame on Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and the state government after party chief Nafe Singh Rathee and a party worker were killed by unidentified assailants earlier in the day.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Chautala said that Rathee had flagged “threat to his life” six months back, yet no action was taken by the state government for stepping up security measures for him. He further said Rathee had approached senior police officers and CM Khattar, even some former party MLAs had claimed threat to his life, but he wasn’t provided any security cover.

“The incident that has taken place today, for this the state government is responsible. They are responsible because, six months back, Nafe Singh told me, the police informed him that his life was in danger and he could be attacked anytime. He wrote to the SP, CM, and DG that they must investigate this and provide him with security... Some former MLAs also informed the CM, but no security was provided to him,” Chautala told ANI.

Further lashing out at the Khattar-led government, Chautala said the BJP dispensation in the state was providing security cover to those who do not need it, while no investigation is conducted when some other party leader claims life threat.

“Those who need the security are not getting it, instead, those who are accused in several cases are getting it. I clearly hold the CM responsible for this incident. If someone is giving in writing that his life is under threat, then the chief minister should have conducted an investigation and provided him with security,” Chautala further told the news agency.

He said the party will ask the state government to initiate a CBI probe into the incident.

“The party will take strict action on this and force the government to conduct a CBI investigation. The government is trying to play safe by taking the name of the Lawrance gang, but if they are saying so then why didn't they provide any security,” Chautala further told ANI.
