The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is currently at the Bhilai home of Chaitanya Baghel, son of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. These searches are being conducted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and are based on new evidence in the ongoing liquor scam probe. This isn't the first time Chaitanya Baghel has been targeted; the federal agency conducted similar raids in March of this year. The ED alleges that the Chhattisgarh liquor "scam" led to a "massive loss" for the state government, enriching a liquor syndicate by over Rs 2,100 crore in illegal proceeds.
