Earlier, Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Kumar Modi challenged Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to contest Lok Sabha elections from anywhere in Uttar Pradesh, claiming he would be unable to save his election deposit.
Sushil Modi's comments came a day after Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav offered Kumar a seat in the Lok Sabha from UP's Phoolpur, reports news agency ANI.
"Akhilesh Yadav wants Nitish ji to visit Uttar Pradesh and lose his election deposit. Everyone is aware that Akhilesh Yadav does not have a candidate in his own state. He had an alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in the last Lok Sabha elections, which later broke down, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won with 62 seats," Sushil Kumar told ANI.
"Nitish Kumar should run for Lok Sabha from Phoolpur, but if he fails to save a deposit there, he should return to Bihar as a candidate who lost his deposit in the election. Leave Phoolpur and run for office anywhere in Uttar Pradesh; I challenge Nitish Kumar to not save a deposit in the election,” he further said.
