‘Nation Comes First’: Bihar Groom Delays Baraat To Join Security Drill After Operation Sindoor
The drill was carried out in view of "new and complex threats" after the Indian armed forces launched a precision missile attack on nine terror sites in Pakistan and PoK.

A groom from Purnia district of Bihar decided to halt the baraat for two hours amid his wedding on Wednesday in response to participate in a nationwide security drill. The drill was carried out in view of "new and complex threats" after the Indian armed forces launched a precision missile attack on nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) as a part of the 'Operation Sindoor'.
The groom identified as Sushant Kushwaha, was scheduled to depart with the "baraat" for the bride's house, which was 40km away from Araria district, at 6 pm on Wednesday. But with no hesitations, he decided to keep his family, relatives, friends, and the bride waiting for two hours, as per the report by NDTV.
"It is my wedding today, but that is not the only reason why I feel elated. Today, the Indian Army entered Pakistan and launched missile strikes at their terror bases. It is a proud moment that I am able to be a part of the drill," he said, indicating the security drills that were held across 244 districts in the country, following the directions of the Union Home Ministry.
The Nation Comes First: Groom
Kushwaha disclosed that on Tuesday, he clarified to his family and the groom's family that initially he would participate in the security drill, when it was decided to be held in Purnia.
Following the drill, he promptly left with the "baraat" at 8 pm, stating that "the nation comes first. Soldiers often leave their wedding venue to go and fight at the borders. If the situation demands, we will also do that."
Security exercises replicating various high-threat situations, such as air raids, large-scale fire outbreaks, and coordinated search and rescue missions, were conducted across multiple states and Union Territories as part of the nationwide civil defence initiative ‘Operation Abhyaas’.
These drills were held just hours after India launched 'Operation Sindoor', a military strike on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 civilian lives, including one Nepali national.
