WI vs ENG, T20 World Cup: West Indies & England Take A Knee To Show Support In Fight Against Racism

England and West Indies on Saturday took a knee to show support in the fight against racism ahead of second match of ICC Men's T20 World Cup in United Arab Emirates (UAE).

New Delhi: West Indies and England on Saturday took a knee to show support in the fight against racism ahead of second match of ICC Men's T20 World Cup in United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Just a day before West Indies vs England T20 World Cup game, English skipper Eoin Morgan had said, "Tomorrow we'll join West Indies in taking a knee to show our support in the fight against racism. The second part of it is we've always felt that we need something within our squad and our side that we feel a part of making a change, both locally and nationally and potentially globally," Morgan had said on Friday during the pre-match press conference as per ICC.

"Our moment of unity that we have had at home for quite a period of time has been our piece of, I suppose, cultural development, education, raising awareness within that space, as well, and it's worked for us, and it's progressing nicely and guys are engaged and want to do more.

"Unfortunately during this tournament, we're not able to do that. If we could do that every game, we would. But yeah, we're more than happy to take a knee tomorrow," he added.

Meanwhile, England invited West Indies to bat first after winning the toss.

Earlier in the day, Australian cricket team kicked-off its T20 World Cup campaign with a resounding victory over South Africa in a low-scoring thriller. Australia led by senior player Aaron Finch defeated South Africa by 5 wickets in the first match of Men's T20 ICC World Cup Group Stage match on Saturday at the iconic Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.

Batting first, South Africa were restricted to a paltry 118 runs off 20 overs for loss of 9 wickets. In reply, Australia chased down the target in 19.4 overs after losing 5 wickets.
