West Indies Announce 16-Member Squad For T20I Series Against India: Report
Veteran all-rounder Kieron Pollard has been named as Windies T20I team captain while Nicholas Pooran has taken the deputy role.
New Delhi: The two-time World T20 champions West Indies cricket team have named their 16-member squad for the three-match T20I series against Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team, Crictracker reported. India vs West Indies 1st T20I match will take place on February 16 after the completion of Ind vs WI three-match ODI series.
As per the Crictracker report, hard-hitting veteran all-rounder Kieron Pollard has been named as the captain while Nicholas Pooran has taken the deputy role. Some of the big names that will play ODIs against India are Kemar Roach, Shamarh Brooks and Nkrumah Bonner but they will miss the T20I series.
West Indies is currently playing a 5-match T20I series against England on home soil, leading the series 2-1 with just two more games to go.
West Indies squad for T20I series against India: Kieron Pollard(C), Nicholas Pooran (vc), Fabien Allen, Darren Bravo, Roston Chase, Sheldon Cottrell, Dominic Drakes, Jason Holder, Shai Hope, Akeal Hosein, Brandon King, Rovman Powell, Odean Smith, Romario Shepherd, Kyle Mayers, Hayden Walsh.
Team India, on the other hand, have already announced both their T2O and ODI squads for the home series against West Indies.
Fit-again Rohit Sharma returns to lead the national team in white-ball format. Senior pace bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami, keeping in mind the workload management, have been rested.
Young leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi got his maiden call up to the Indian side while Deepak Hooda returned to the India ODI team after a gap of five years.
Due to travel risks amid 3rd wave of Covid-19 in India, all three T20I games between India and Windies will be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
