WATCH |'Not My Headache': Shikhar Dhawan Avoids Unnecessary Stress On India's Opening Conundrum
When it comes to top-order, Rohit Sharma has been brilliant as an opener and skipper Virat Kohli has consistently scored runs in the middle at number three slot
Pune: With the 2020 World Cup just few months away, some quality performances from top-order batsmen has given the Indian team management a 'selection headache'. When it comes to top-order, Rohit Sharma has been brilliant as an opener and skipper Virat Kohli has consistently scored runs in the middle at number three slot.
In Dhawan's absence, who was ruled out for some time due to injury, young batsman KL Rahul played some mature knocks to cement his stake.
Asked to opine on team India's opening conundrum after their thumping win over Sri Lanka in the third T20I in Pune, Dhawan said: "All three players are doing very well. For Rohit, 2019 was fantastic. Rahul has also done very well in the last two-three months and he is a very good player. And now even I'm there in the picture. I did well today as well."
"Well, this is not my headache. So, I'm not thinking too much about it because it's not in my hands. I am happy that I did well in the two opportunities that I got," added Dhawan.
In his comeback knock after an injury layoff, Dhawan scored 32 and 52 runs respectively in the second and third T20I. A dominant all-round performance by team India powered them to a 78-run win and seal the three-match series 2-0 against Sri Lanka in the third and final T20I at Pune on Friday. The Indian bowlers were so good that they bowled out Sri Lanka in just 15.5 overs as the 'Men-In-Blue' wrap up the T20I series in style. Two opening slots and three consistent openers? Trust @SDhawan25 to not take unnecessary stress 😄😅. His job is to score runs and he is happy doing that. #TeamIndia #INDvSL pic.twitter.com/qYHicVBTDT
