Tokyo Olympics: Japan's 13-Year-Old Nishiya Momoji Creates History, Becomes First Women's Skateboard Champion

Tokyo Olympics 2020: Nishiya, at the age of 13 years and 330 days, has won the gold medal in skateboarding in the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Tokyo Olympics 2020: Japan's 13-year-old Nishiya Momoji has become one of the youngest athletes in Olympic history to win a gold medal. Nishiya has achieved this feat in the street skateboarding competition. Earlier, Youngest gold medal winning record in Olympic history was held by American diver Marjorie Gestring. She had attained this feat by winning the gold medal in the 1936 Olympic Games at the age of 13 years and 268 days. Nishiya has also become the first women's player to win a gold medal in the skateboarding competition. 

Nishiya, at the age of 13 years and 330 days, has achieved the feat of winning the Olympic gold medal. She won this title with a score of 15.26. Brazil's 13-year-old Rayssa Leal won the silver medal of the event with a score of 14.64. At the same time, 16-year-old Funa Nakayama of Japan captured the bronze medal with 14.49 points.

Rayssa Leal could become the youngest player to win gold 

Rayssa Leal of Brazil has won the silver medal of this event. Rayssa's age is currently 13 years 203 days. If she had been successful in winning the gold medal, she would have surpassed Marjorie Gestring to become the youngest athlete in Olympic history to win a gold medal. 

This was the first Olympics for all three players, Nishiya, Leal and Nakayama, and in their very first Olympics, these three players created history by winning medals for the country.

Nishiya, the first player to win gold medal in Skateboard

With this victory, another achievement has been added to the name of Nishiya Momoji of Japan. She has become the first player to win a gold medal in skateboarding. For the first time in this year's Tokyo Olympics, skateboarding event has been included.
