Uruguay Footballer Luis Suarez was in tears after Atletico's win against Real Valladolid. Atletico Madrid were crowned the Spanish La Liga Champions after the win. Suarez scored the deciding second goal in the 67th minute of the match.

Suarez was playing for FC Barcelona till 2020. Suarez says that he was "disrespected" even after scoring 209 goals for the Barcelona club. After speculations that Suarez won't find his old rhythm due to his age, he shun his critics by scoring 21 goals for Atletico Madrid this season. To win the La Liga with Atletico must mean wonders for Luis Suarez as he was constantly doubted on his ability.

"This has been a hard season for the situation I had to go through, starting the season the way it did, being disrespected (by Barcelona) and having Atlético open its doors to me," Suarez said after winning the match.

"Many people have suffered with me, my wife, my children, every day. I have been in football for so many years and I think this is the year they have endured the most," he added.

Suarez had won four La Liga titles with Barcelona and this is his fifth title.

"It (La Liga title) is special, because of everything that some of us had to endure. Here are my statistics: five league titles in seven seasons. And here is Luis Suarez," he said.

La Liga 2020-21 was a closely fought league. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla, all of them were in contention for the title at least once. The league title has given immense satisfaction for Diego Simeone and co. On Suarez's performance, Simeone said: "For Atlético to win the title this season, it's different. It was a difficult year, just like our own history. This was one of the best years for Atlético to be the champion."
