Indian Medallists From Tokyo Olympics Who Won't Be Participating In Paris 2024 Games

Two Indian medallists in individual sports at Tokyo Olympics won't be participating in Paris 2024 Games.

India achieved its best-ever medals tally in an Olympic Games in their last appearance at Tokyo 2020. While they had seven medals in a single edition of the Olympic Games in the past as well, this time around it was the gold medal bagged by Neeraj Chopra towards the fag end of the Olympic campaign that added a lot of weightage to India's medals tally and made it the best in their history.

Even though there was a shorter turnaround between the two Olympics this time around with Tokyo 2020 actually happening in 2021 due to Coronavirus pandemic and the Paris 2024 Olympics happening as scheduled, there are two of India's medallists at Paris 2024 who won't be competing in the Paris Olympic Games.

Who Are The Two Indian Tokyo 2020 Medallists Missing From India's Paris 2024 Contingent?

The two Indian medallists missing from India's Paris 2024 Contingent happen to be Bajrang Punia who had bagged a bronze in the Men's 65kg wrestling in the Japanese capital and Ravi Kumar Dahiya. Like Bajrang, Dahiya too had won a medal in wrestling, playing the gold medal match but settling for a silver in the men's 57 kg.

Even though both made the country proud in the last Olympics, this time around both have failed to qualify after losing their respective bouts in the trials for national selection. Only Aman Sehrawat has qualified among the male wrestlers with five women wrestlers set to compete in Paris Olympics 2024.

In addition, there will be a few new faces in the Indian men's hockey team which looks to better its bronze-medal finish from Tokyo.
