Just one step away from the World Cup final, Morocco is set to play France in the semifinal on Thursday, December 15. There were jubilant celebrations by the Moroccans on the ground after the final whistle was blown, even as a distraught Portugal exited with their star player Cristiano Ronaldo seen in tears.

Earlier, Morocco's Youssef En-Nesyri scored the only goal of the match when Portugal goalie Diogo Costa tried to punch the ball after running off his line but failed to get near it.
Portugal had started the game without their star player Ronaldo, who came as a substitute in the 51st minute. He failed to turn the game back in favour of Portugal. This was Ronaldo's fifth World Cup and he has most likely played his final World Cup match.
The two semifinals will be played on December 14 and 15. The teams losing the matches will play for third place on Saturday, December 17. The final will be played on Sunday, December 18.
