Karim Benzema 'Is Like A Fine Wine' & 'Has Time' To Win Ballon d'Or Says Real Madrid Manager

La Liga: Benzema has scored eight goals and managed seven assists in five matches so far. He also scored two goals on Saturday against Mallorca when Madrid won 6-1.

Real Madrid's scoring responsibility has come on the experienced shoulders of Karim Benzema. The 33-year old Frenchman, who was always in the shadow of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale became their main man in 2017-18 season. He has been a dominant force since the last two seasons. 

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has even compared him to Messi and Ronaldo putting him ahead of both of them to win the Ballon d'Or award this year. Benzema has scored eight goals and managed seven assists in five matches so far. He also scored two goals on Saturday against Mallorca when Madrid won 6-1. 

Karim Benzema recently completed his 200 La Liga goals.

“For what he’s doing and for what he’s done, he has to be in the list of possible winners,” Ancelotti said of Benzema to Reuters. 

“Saying that, Karim’s got time to win it. I somehow doubt this is his final season – he’s like a fine wine; the older he gets the better he is.”

Madrid will pay their next match against FC Sheriff on Tuesday in the Champions LEAGUE. 

“Players who haven’t been playing will have the chance to play in the next games because they’re fresher,” he said.

“You can’t train at intensity because you’re playing a game every three days. We’re doing a lot of video analysis of what we’ve done well and what we need to improve," Ancelotti concluded.
