Will Jasprit Bumrah Play In MI vs RCB IPL 2025 Match? MI Head Coach Shares BIG Update

Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene provided a massive update on Jasprit Bumrah's potential return to competitive cricket ahead of the MI vs RCB match of the IPL 2025.

Mumbai Indians’ (MI) star pacer Jasprit Bumrah is set to return to action in the team’s upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 7 (Monday). Bumrah has been out of action since sustaining a back injury during the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Sydney this January. The premier Indian pacer missed all competitive cricket following the setback, including the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which India clinched under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.

Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene, during the pre-match press conference ahead of the MI vs RCB clash, confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah is fully fit and ready to make his comeback. Having completed his rehabilitation at the NCA, Bumrah has rejoined the MI squad and is expected to feature in their IPL 2025 match against RCB.

"He is available. He is training today, so he should be available tomorrow. He arrived last night (Saturday, April 5). And I believe he had his sessions with NCA to finalise that. He has been handed over to our physios. So, yeah, it should be his bowling today. All good and he will play tomorrow," Cricbuzz quoted Jayawardene as saying ahead of the MI vs RCB IPL 2025 clash.

Bumrah has been a key part of the Mumbai Indians setup since making his IPL debut in 2013, picking up 165 wickets in 133 matches and establishing himself as one of the team’s most crucial players.

MI Coach Also Provides Update On Rohit Sharma's Injury

Jayawardene also shared an update on Rohit Sharma’s injury, revealing that the opener missed MI's clash against Lucknow Super Giants due to a knee injury picked up during training.

“Ro (Rohit) looks good. He is going to bat today (in a training session) as well. It was just an unfortunate impact on his leg while batting. So it's not comfortable. We were travelling yesterday (Saturday), and he will have a hit today and then we will do an assessment on that,” said Jayawardene.
