Interestingly, today is the third time in a row when Virat Kohli was dismissed for a golden duck in an IPL match played on '23rd April'. Virat was dismissed on the first ball of the match back in 2017 against Kolkata, then in 2022 against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Royal Challengers Bangalore did not play any match on 23rd April, between 2017 and 2022. Therefore, whenever Virat Kohli took the field for an IPL match on 23rd April, he scored a golden duck - three so far.
Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer Sandeep Sharma bowled a spectacular 20th over against RCB, taking 3 wickets. Sandeep's bowling heroics restricted Rajasthan to 189 runs for loss of 9 wickets.
RCB's stand-in captain Virat Kohli said at the toss, "It was pretty easy to choose, we'd have batted first. This wicket looks dry and it will get drier and might break up first. I didn't say that to Sanju, but I'm very happy to bat first. We both get to do what we wanted. They informed me last time saying I might have to captain a couple of games, nothing I'm not used to doing.
"So I'm happy to step in, ready to continue from whatever Faf has been doing. The team has responded well, we are playing with a lot of energy and that showed in the last game. One change for us, Wayne Parnell is out and he will be replaced by David Willey. Faf continues to play as an impact sub."
