KKR Vs GT, IPL 2025: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are set to host Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 39th fixture of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season on April 21 (Monday). Defending champions are reeling from a surprising defeat to Punjab Kings, where they were bowled out for just 95 while chasing a modest 112—the lowest total ever defended in IPL history.

At 62/2, KKR appeared in control, but a sudden batting collapse, triggered by sharp spells from Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh and Marco Jansen turned the game on its head. The loss highlighted KKR’s struggles with consistency under pressure, particularly in their middle order.

Despite the setback, their bowling attack remains a strong point. Varun Chakaravarthy, Sunil Narine, and Harshit Rana have been standout performers, especially during the middle overs. Currently placed sixth on the table with three wins from seven matches, Ajinkya Rahane-led side will be eager to bounce back quickly and remain in contention for the playoffs.

At the same time, Gujarat Titans have emerged as a well-rounded side this season, particularly shining with the bat. In their latest outing, GT pulled off a stunning chase of 204 against Delhi Capitals, thanks to a sensational unbeaten 97 off 51 balls from Jos Buttler.  His match-winning knock marked the franchise’s first-ever successful chase of a 200-plus target.

Contributions from Sai Sudharsan and Sherfane Rutherford ensured stability through the middle overs, while Rahul Tewatia applied the finishing touches in style. On the bowling front, GT delivered under pressure as Prasidh Krishna and Sai Kishore were instrumental by keeping opposition batters in check.
