Last month, there were reports suggesting that Yuvraj Singh might become the coach of Gujarat Titans (GT). However, recent updates indicate that Ashish Nehra could continue as the head coach of GT.
The report also suggests that Gujarat is now searching for an Indian coach to fill the position left vacant by batting coach Gary Kirsten, who has moved on to become the head coach of the Pakistan national team.
Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting stepped down as the head coach of Delhi Capitals last month after a seven-season tenure with the team. Under his leadership, Delhi Capitals have struggled to make it to the playoffs, failing to qualify for the last three seasons.
If Yuvraj Singh takes on the role of head coach for Delhi Capitals, it will mark his debut in coaching.
The Indian all-rounder, who played in IPL from 2008 to 2019, was part of several teams throughout his career, including Punjab Kings, Pune Warriors India, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
In his last IPL season with Mumbai Indians in 2019, the team won their fourth title by defeating CSK. Notably, Yuvraj was absent from the 2012 IPL season due to cancer treatment.
There was earlier speculation that Sourav Ganguly, the franchise director of cricket for Delhi Capitals, might be appointed as the head coach of the team. The former India captain had also expressed his interest in taking on this role. In addition to his involvement with Delhi Capitals, Ganguly oversees the team's sister franchises in the ILT20 league, Dubai Capitals, and the SA-T20 League team, Pretoria Capitals.
