MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings (CSK) locked horns with Mumbai Indians (MI) in match number 49 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Saturday (May 6) at MA Chidambaram cricket stadium. And just like their previous encounter in IPL 2023, Chennai Super Kings outclassed the five-time IPL winners this time as well. CSK defeated MI by six wickets to secure their 11th win in the ongoing tournament, moving to second position in IPL 2023 Points Table with 13 points in their kitty. Chennai Super Kings invited Mumbai Indians to bat first after winning the toss. MI batters were rocked by fiery spells from Deepak Chahar (2/18 in 4 overs), Matheesha Pathirana (3/15 in 4 overs) and Tushar Deshpande (2/25 in 4 overs) as the five-time IPL winners could post a below-par 139/8 in 20 overs.

In reply, CSK were off to a solid start as their openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway stitched a solid 46-run partnership for first wicket. Mumbai Indians got their first breakthrough when Piyush Chawla got in-form Gaikwad caught behind stumps in first ball of 5th over. MI captain Rohit Sharma's wife Ritika Sajdeh, present in stands to support her husband, was seen celebrating Gaikwad's dismissal. Video of Ritika's animated celebration has gone viral on internet.

MS Dhoni’s wife Sakshi and his daughter Ziva were also seen in the stands for CSK vs MI IPL 2023 match.

After losing to Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians stay in sixth position in IPL Points Standings with 10 points from as many games and there's a very little margin for error after this match with IPL 2023 Playoffs nearing.
