MS Dhoni’s CSK have outplayed the Mumbai Indians led by Rohit Sharma on Saturday. CSK’s batters chased down a total of 139 runs and won the match by six wickets. Devon Conway starred with the bat as he scored 44 runs and helped his team seal a victory here at the MA Chidambaram stadium, Chennai. Apart from Conway, Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 30 runs off 16 deliveries and Shivam Dube also played a useful hand of 26 runs off 18 balls.
Earlier, MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to bowl first at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium. Coming to bat first, Rohit sent Cameron Green to open with Ishan Kishan and that decision was not wise since Green departed early off Tushar Deshpande in the second over of the match. Deepak Chahar on the other hand wreaked havoc by taking wickets of Ishan and Rohit. MI’s skipper fell on a second consecutive duck and a fourth single-digit score this season.
It was Nehal Wadhera and Suryakumar Yadav, who built up a 55-run stand and tried to put Mumbai in a strong position as Wadhera ended up scoring 64 runs and powered Mumbai to 139/8 after 20 overs. For CSK, the star with the ball was Matheesha Pathirana as he scalped three wickets after conceding just 15 runs. Deepak Chahar and Tushar Deshpande picked up two wickets each.
For Mumbai Indians, it was the veteran spinner Piyush Chawla who picked up two wickets after conceding just 25 runs in his four overs of quota alongside Tristan Stubbs and Akash Madhwa took a wicket each.
