All Eyes On Ahmedabad Weather: Rain May Disrupt IPL 2025 Final

Ahmedabad is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall on Tuesday, with a 50–75% chance of showers in the evening and night - right around match time.

The grand finale of IPL 2025 between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) is set to take place tonight at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad - but weather concerns are casting a shadow over the much-anticipated clash.

While fans are eager to witness one of these franchises lift their maiden IPL trophy, the threat of rain has added an element of uncertainty.

IMD Forecast: Light to Moderate Showers Expected

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Ahmedabad is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall on Tuesday, with a 50–75% chance of showers in the evening and night - right around match time. Monday saw the temperature peak at 39°C, but a shift in weather patterns may disrupt play during the final.

Top-Class Drainage Offers Hope

Despite the forecast, there's some reassurance for fans and organizers. The Narendra Modi Stadium is equipped with an advanced sub-soil drainage system that can clear standing water in just 30 minutes after rainfall ends - 36 times faster than traditional systems.

This technology ensured a quick restart during the rain-hit qualifier between PBKS and MI.

Reserve Day in Place for the Final

In line with IPL rules, the final has a designated reserve day. If rain prevents any play on June 3, the match will be rescheduled for June 4. Notably, the 2023 IPL final was also moved to the reserve day due to rain in Ahmedabad. If the weather washes out play on both days, Punjab Kings - as the top-ranked team in the league stage - will be declared champions.

Notably, IPL 2025 will have a brand new champion as both Punjab and Bangalore are yet to win an IPL trophy.
