IPL 2022: Lucknow Super Giants Reveals Idea Behind Using 'Mythical Garuda Wings' In Their Official Logo
Ahmedabad IPL team is yet to reveal its official name and logo, while the Lucknow IPL team announced its official name last week.
New Delhi: The official logo of Lucknow's IPL team, Lucknow Super Giants has been revealed ahead of this year's mega auction. The franchise took to social media to unveil their official logo and tell that 'mythical bird Garuda' inspired them to create the emblem of the team.
Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) decision to add two new teams - Ahmedabad and Lucknow - in the tournament has made it a 10-team affair. Ahmedabad IPL team is yet to reveal its official name and logo, while the Lucknow IPL team announced its official name last week.

"The mythical bird Garuda- who is a protector and enthroned with the power to move swiftly, has inspired us to create the winged emblem of the team. Garuda is omnipresent in every Indian culture and sub-culture," LSG said in a statement.
"The tri-colour wings of the entity, symbolically represent Lucknow Super Giants' Pan-India appeal. The body of the bird has been formed by a blue coloured bat to signify the game of cricket, there is a red ball with an orange seam too. It is like an auspicious 'Jay tilak'," it added.

Lucknow IPL team, known as Lucknow Super Giants, is owned by RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group. The group earlier owned Rising Pune Supergiants, which is no longer a part of the IPL.
Lucknow Super Giants picked Indian opener KL Rahul, Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis and uncapped spinner Ravi Bishnoi as their draft picks ahead of the auction.
The franchise roped in KL Rahul for Rs 17 crore, Stoinis for Rs 9.2 crore and Bishnoi for Rs 4 crore. The Ahmedabad-based franchise has roped in Hardik Pandya (captain), Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill as their three draft picks ahead of auction.
