Will Hardik Pandya Bowl In T20 World Cup? Here's What Rohit Sharma Said
In the UAE phase of IPL 2021, Hardik Pandya disappointed with his batting as he scored just 127 runs with an average of 14.11 and strike rate of 113.39.
New Delhi: Indian chief selector Chetan Sharma was confident that star all-rounder Hardik Pandya would bowl in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, but it did not happen and now team India vice-captain Rohit Sharma has expressed hope that Hardik will bowl in the 'next week or so'.
Talking about IPL, Hardik Pandya played five matches in the UAE leg of the T20 tournament, in which he did not get much success. After the public announcement of the chairman of the selection committee, it seemed that Hardik would bowl, but he did not bowl a single over in the cash-rich tournament.
"He is getting better day by day, so in the next week or so he might be able to bowl. Only the doctors and physios will be able to give an update on that," Rohit Sharma said during the post-match press conference.
In the UAE phase of IPL 2021, Pandya also disappointed with his batting and scored just 127 runs. During this, his average was 14.11 and strike rate of 113.39.
He added, "In terms of his bowling, he hasn't bowled yet. So, the physios, trainers and the medical team are working on his bowling. As of now, all I know is that he hasn't bowled a single ball yet but we wanted to take one game at a time and see where he stands."
"As far as his batting is concerned, yes, he will be a little bit disappointed. We know his quality, there is no doubt about that and he has comeback from tough situations before as well. Personally, for him, he will not be happy with his batting. The team has confidence in his ability," Rohit said.
Apart from Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya, other Mumbai Indians' players who are part of India's T20 World Cup squad are Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Rahul Chahar and Jasprit Bumrah.
