'Don’t Add Flavour': R Ashwin Takes Exception For Skewing His Tweets; Fans Remain Puzzled

A news organisation pinned a theory regarding Ashwin's cryptic tweets. It implied that the series of tweets are somehow related to ongoing farmers' protest.

Indian cricket team's senior spinner R Ashiwn, who emerged as a hero in Ind vs Eng Pink-ball Test by taking 7 wickets, on Friday posted a series of tweets that left many confused.

The veteran spinner posted the tweets a day after India wrapped up the Motera Test in just 2 days to beat England by 10-wickets to go 2-1 up in the 4-match Test series.

Tweets posted by Ashwin mentioned "ideas being sold to us" and "outbound marketing". Since the exact context of the tweets was not clear, confusion prevailed as it is difficult to make out what exactly the senior spinner was referring to.

"Products are sold using various marketing strategies and that's an accepted practice! We now live in an era where ideas are also being sold to us and it's a classic example of 'outbound marketing', however I would like to add that buying ideas being sold to us is like telling us 'you can't think on your own' and here we will teach you how to think and also help you think the way we want you to think. After having played the game at this level for a decade, I can safely say that 'As long as we are going to buy it, they will shove it down our throat'," his tweets read.

A news organisation pinned a theory regarding Ashwin's cryptic tweets. It implied that the series of tweets are somehow related to ongoing farmers' protest.

The Tamil Nadu cricketer reacted from his official handle, saying: "This is exactly what I said in my series of tweets!! I don’t want any of you all to try and give meaning to or politicise my tweets. My profession is cricket and that’s what I have spoken about, please don’t add flavour to skew minds."

Meanwhile, in a video posted on BCCI's official webiste, Ashwin revealed that he leaved no stone unturned to prepare for game as he goes to a "different level".

"In Australia, before the Adelaide Test, I watched footage for eight straight hours. Planning for me goes to a different level. I do not know why I started doing it but it's just that I do not want to leave any stone unturned," Ashwin told India fielding coach R Sridhar.
