Why Jasprit Bumrah Is Not Playing India vs Australia 1st T20I In Mohali?
Team India skipper Rohit Sharma revealed at the toss that Jasprit Bumrah won't be playing T20 series opener against Aussies and will play the second and third T20I match.
India vs Australia 1st T20I: Rohit Sharma-led team India is taking on reigning T20 World Champions Australia in the series-opener at Mohali in PCA stadium on Tuesday. Australia skipper Aaron Finch won the toss and opted to bowl first against India as the visitors wanted to take advantage of dew factor. This is India's 1st match of the three-match T20 series against Australia.
Fit-in Harshal Patel is making his comeback to the national team after recovering from injury. Star wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant also misses out on making it to the playing XI. Senior pacer Umesh Yadav, who was brought back into the team after Shami tested Coronavirus positive, has also been named in India's playing XI against Australia.
Bumrah will play 2nd T20I against Australia, says Rohit
Team India skipper Rohit Sharma revealed at the toss that Jasprit Bumrah won't be playing T20 series opener against Aussies and will play the second and third T20I match.
"It is an opportunity to test ourselves. Every game is a big game to learn. We got to learn so much in the last six-eight months on how to win games. This series will be no different for us to express ourselves. Looking at what happened in the Asia Cup, we had a chance to reflect on where we went wrong. This gives us an opportunity to correct ourselves as a group. Nothing changes in terms of our approach.
Unfortunately there are some injuries in the squad. Bumrah is not playing, he will take a game's break and probably come back in the second and the third game. We have Axar and Chahal. Pant misses out," Rohit Sharma said after winning the toss.
