Team India head coach Ravi Shastri said his boys deserve to be number one Test side in the world after overcoming every obstacle during their journey to the final of the World Test Championship.
The Indian cricket team remains to be No. 1 team in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Test rankings after the annual update. Team India have performed brilliantly in the longest format of the game in the last two years and qualified for the finals of the first edition of the ICC World Test Championship.
The final match of the World Test Championship is scheduled to be played between India and New Zealand from June 18 in Southampton, England. Following the newly released ICC's ranking for Test teams, Team India's head coach Ravi Shastri has posted an emotional tweet that will win your heart.
Coach Ravi Shastri said his boys deserve to be number one Test side in the world after overcoming every obstacle during their journey to the final of the World Test Championship. The 58-year-old was appointed as the head coach of team India by the BCCI in the year 2017. After the 2019 ICC World Cup, Shastri got an extension.
"This team has shown steely resolve & unwavering focus to be crowned No. 1. It is something the boys have earned fair & square. Rules changed midway but #TeamIndia overcame every hurdle along the way. My boys played tough cricket in tough times. Super proud of this bindass bunch," Shastri tweeted.
Team India (2914 rating points from 24 matches) secured a spot in the final of the World Test Championship against New Zealand (2166 points from 18 Tests) after winning the four-match Test series 3–1 against England at home. At the same time, Virat & Co. won the four-match Test series 2-1 against Australia.
