Gold Cup: Indian women's football team to lock horns with Nepal today with eye on title clash

India started off their campaign on a winning note by securing a 1-0 win over Iran on Saturday. The win was India's fifth on the trot after back-to-back victories against both Indonesia and Hong Kong in matches prior to the tournament.

Bhubaneswar: Indian women's football shall lock horns with Nepal in their second round robin match of the Gold Cup tournament at Bhubaneswar on Monday. The hosts who opened their campaign with an emphatic 1-0 win over Iran on Saturday would look to continue their winning spree and seal a place in the finals of the Gold Cup International tournament. India started off their campaign on a winning note by securing a 1-0 win over Iran on Saturday. The win was India's fifth on the trot after back-to-back victories against both Indonesia and Hong Kong in matches prior to the tournament. Iran's attempts to break down a well grouped Indian defence did not bear fruit and a 48th minute strike from Anju Tamang was enough for the hosts to start with a win. In the second group tie of the day top-ranked Myanmar (44th ranked) will start as favourites against Iran. Meanwhile Iran would like to pull back things after losing thier opening tie against India on The AIFF has made the tickets for the India-Nepal match available free of cost for the soccer fans to witness the game in big numbers and cheer the home team. The All India Football Federation in association with the Odisha Government is organizing the tournament.
