With the win, Liverpool see off the pressure surmounted on them by Manchester City with thier win against Wolves earlier in the day, and now go on top of the table with 21 points in 8 games.

Arne Slot's men came into the fixture knowing that any sort of error leading to drop of points will place Manchester City above them in th table. From the kick-off itself, the home side looked well-disciplined in their backline and potent up-front, and managed to break the deadlock in the 29th minute via a Mohammad Salah penalty.
