Arne Slot's men came into the fixture knowing that any sort of error leading to drop of points will place Manchester City above them in th table. From the kick-off itself, the home side looked well-disciplined in their backline and potent up-front, and managed to break the deadlock in the 29th minute via a Mohammad Salah penalty.
