FIFA World Cup 2034 To Be Hosted By Saudi Arabia; Spain, Morocco & Portugal To Co-Host Mega Event In 2030

FIFA announced Saudi Arabia as the host for the 2034 World Cup, following record-high bidding ratings. Spain, Portugal, and Morocco will jointly host the 2030 World Cup.

FIFA announced the host nations for the men’s World Cup events in 2030 and 2034 on December 11 (Wednesday). Saudi Arabia recently achieved record-high bidding ratings and was subsequently chosen as the sole host for the 2034 edition, while Spain, Portugal and Morocco will jointly host the 2030 tournament. Saudi Arabia was the sole bidder for the 2034 World Cup, as FIFA adhered to its continental rotation policy for the bidding process. Although Australia initially showed interest, they did not officially submit a bid.

The announcement came unopposed, earning unanimous approval from over 200 FIFA member federations during a virtual meeting chaired by FIFA President Gianni Infantino in Zurich.

The joint bid by Morocco, Spain and Portugal will bring the 2030 FIFA World Cup to three continents and six countries, with Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay hosting special matches to commemorate the tournament's centenary.

“Introducing the hosts for the next two editions of the @FIFAWorldCup

Morocco, Portugal and Spain will host in 2030, with centenary celebration matches in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. Four years later, Saudi Arabia will host the FIFA World Cup 2034,” FIFA wrote in X post.

Saudi Arabia is set to become the second Middle Eastern nation to host the FIFA World Cup, following Qatar's 2022 edition.

The 2034 tournament will mark the first-ever 48-team event hosted by a single nation, with matches spread across 15 stadiums in five cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, Al Khobar, Abha, and Neom.

Earlier, FIFA had also revealed the dates and venues for the 2027 Women's World Cup and the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup. Brazil will host the Women's World Cup from June 24 to July 25, 2027, while Qatar will stage the U-17 World Cup from November 5, 2025.
