Maradona Passes Away At 60: Argentinian football legend Diego Maradona, who led the country to victory in the 1986 World Cup, has passed away at his home in Tigre after suffering a cardiac arrest, reports in Argentinian media said. His death came soon after he had a successful surgery on a brain blood clot earlier this month. Maradona was the coach of Gimnasia y Esgrima. His last public appearance was when he was presented with a commemorative plaque ahead of his side's game with Patronato. He had  turned 60 last month Maradona had a history of battling with drugs and alcohol addiction.

When Maradona Played Against Sourav Ganguly

In 2017 December, when on a three-day trip to India, the footballer played a friendly match with the former Indian captain of the cricket team, Sourav Ganguly. The trip was originally scheduled for October in 2017 but was later postponed to December.

Maradona has undergone two gastric bypass operations to control his weight and also taken treatment for alcohol abuse. Maradona was one of the greatest football players of all time. He had played in four FIFA World Cups and was captain of the Argentine team that won the 1986 tournament. The soccer legend's performance in Argentina's quarter-final match against England immortalised him in his country's culture. He scored twice in his side's 2-1 win in that match. The first goal was scored with his hand and his explanation in the immediate aftermath that he had made contact with the ball "a little with his head, and a little with the hand of God", led to the goal being known as "The Hand of God", reported IANS.
