Former India cricketer Yusuf Pathan has taken oath as Berhampore MP in the 18th Lok Sabha. WATCH VIRAL VIDEO.

Yusuf Pathan, the former India cricketer, took oath as a member of the 18th Lok Sabha on Tuesday (June 25). Pathan, who was part of both the ODI World Cup and the T20 World Cup-winning side for Team India, contested in the Lok Sabha Elections from Berhampore in West Bengal. He was the candidate of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) and managed to win the seat with the results being counted on June 4 (Tuesday).

Pathan, who defeated Congress veteran Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and BJP’s Nirmal Kumar Saha, took Oath as the Member of Parliament on Tuesday.

"I, Pathan Yusuf Khan, having been elected a member of the House of People do swear in the name of God affirm that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India as by law established, that I will uphold the sovereignty and integrity of India and that I will faithfully discharge the duty upon which I am about to enter. Jai Hind, Jai Bangla, Jai Gujarat," Pathan's pledge in Hindi translates to.

Will Make A Sports Academy First In Berhampore: Yusuf Pathan

The newly-elected MP had earlier expressed his intentions of creating a sports complex in his constituency.

"I will make a sports academy first so that they can make a career. I will also work for industries. I will be living here and working for the people. I will also be in Gujarat as my family is there. I have got a new family in Baharampur (Berhampore). I talked to Didi (Mamata Banerjee). They are happy," Pathan told reporters on June 4.
