‘Tried For 15 years': Aaron Finch Remembers His Struggle Against This Indian Bowler
Even after his weakness against Bhuvneshwar and other swing bowlers, he managed to lead Australia to win the T20 World Cup in 2021.
Former Australian player Aaron Finch talked about the difficulties he faced while playing against swing bowlers, especially India’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Finch’s weakness was quite evident against swinging deliveries as he had a bit open batting stance. Former Australia opener was dismissed seven times by Kumar out of which four came in one series back in 2019 when India went to Australia.
Recently, during the Question Answer session on Twitter, Finch was questioned about the reason behind his weakness against the Indian swing bowler.
“Big fan here, why did bhuvi troubled you a bit.. Could you elaborate? Is it your feet coming across??” a fan questioned Finch.
“Yep!! Tried for 15 years to stop that happening,” Finch replied.

Even after his weakness against Bhuvneshwar and other swing bowlers, he managed to lead Australia to win the T20 World Cup in 2021. In his illustrious career, Finch represented the Kangaroo nation in 146 ODIs and batted with an average of close to 40. He also played 103 T20 internationals at an average of 34.28 and a strike rate of 142.53. Not once, but twice he held the feat for the highest score in a T20 international after scoring 156 against England in 2013 and then notching up the current mark of 172 against Zimbabwe at Harare in 2018. Finch then declared his retirement from international cricket in February earlier this year before leading his team to 40 wins in 76 games.
Bhuvneshwar on the other hand has been out of favour for a while now because of his injuries. Till 2022, he was a regular face of the Indian team especially in the shortest format of the game but then has been on the sidelines. In IPL, he plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad where he failed to make an impact in the last couple of seasons.
