Taliban Are 'Very Happy For Us' & Have Been 'Supportive': Afghanistan Cricket Coach Lance Klusener

The South African, Lance Klusener said that the Taliban have been supportive of the cricket team and it will take time for "everyone to find their feet" with the Taliban.

The last few weeks have been difficult for Afghanistan Cricket. Amid the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, there is still no complete clarity on how things might look like, for the Afghanistan Cricket team. In a recent interview to the news agency, AFP, Afghanistan's head coach, Lance Klusener has given positive signs about the upcoming T20 Cricket World Cup.

The South African, Lance Klusener said that the Taliban have been supportive of the cricket team and it will take time for "everyone to find their feet" with the Taliban.

"(The Taliban are) all for promoting and supporting cricket," Klusener told AFP.

"By all accounts, they're very happy for us to continue and have been extremely supportive. It's a huge, huge change for the country, for the people. It's going to take a little bit of time for everyone to find their feet," he added.

As per a report in Telegraph UK, If the Afghanistan cricket team decides to play under the Taliban flag, the International Cricket Council (ICC) will not allow them to participate in the upcoming T20 Cricket World Cup. On the contrary, Klusner sounds very confident about the Cricket World Cup in the UAE.

"We were planning at least a month's camp (in the UAE) but we are still waiting for visas, so that's not going to happen. We will try to get there as soon as we can. We're lucky that quite a few of our guys play in T20 leagues in various places. I think we've got the best spin attack in the world. We will be asking questions of any team we play, especially if there is a little bit of turn available," he said.
