'Would Do It For...': Shoaib Akhtar Opens Up On Working With PCB

Shoaib Akhtar is widely regarded as one of the most dangerous fast bowlers of his generation.

Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has made his position clear on the possibility of working with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The legendary pacer, who owns the record for the fastest delivery in international cricket at 161.3 km/h, said he remains willing to help Pakistan’s players with his experience but has no desire to take up an official role with the board.

Akhtar rules out working with PCB

Shoaib Akhtar said he would be happy to guide any player seeking his advice and would do so without expecting any payment. However, he has firmly ruled out joining the PCB in any capacity.

According to a Pakistani journalist, Akhtar said, “I will give advice for free, but I will never work for Pakistan Cricket Board.”

His comments come at a time when Pakistan cricket has witnessed several changes in its administration and leadership. Former players have also regularly spoken about the team’s performances and the way the game is being managed in the country.

Akhtar remains fastest bowler in international cricket

Shoaib Akhtar is widely regarded as one of the most dangerous fast bowlers of his generation. During the 2003 World Cup, he delivered a ball at 161.3 km/h against England, a mark that remains the fastest officially recorded delivery in international cricket.

Nicknamed “Rawalpindi Express”, Akhtar represented Pakistan in Tests, ODIs and T20Is. His extraordinary pace, aggressive approach and ability to trouble some of the world’s best batters made him one of the most feared bowlers of his era.

Willing to help Pakistan’s players

Although Akhtar has no plans to work directly with the PCB, he remains committed to contributing to Pakistan cricket. He believes his experience can help players adapt to the demands of modern-day cricket and has indicated that he is ready to share his knowledge whenever required.

Pakistan’s recent results have added to the scrutiny surrounding the team. After drawing their two-Test series against the West Indies 1-1, Pakistan suffered a heavy innings-and-103-run defeat to England in the opening Test. The second Test is scheduled to begin at Lord’s on August 27, with Pakistan looking to bounce back and level the series.
