Rohit Sharma Applauds Akash Deep: Akash Deep is off to a fantastic start in his Test career, as the 27-year-old recorded a memorable Test series against Bangladesh, where he scalped 5 wickets in 4 innings, at an economy rate of 3.00 and strike rate of 40.00, which included some key breakthroughs at important stages.

For his impressive efforts and commitment, the right-arm pacer has now earned praise from his skipper Rohit Sharma, who has hailed him 'energetic' and 'dependable' at any given stage of a Test match.

"Yeah, yeah! Look, Akash Deep has played a lot of cricket in the domestic circuit. He had bowled a lot of overs. There's enough overs in the legs and the guy can do the job the team is expecting him to do. He has got the energy in him. We know that. The body as well. He has the fitness to bowl long spells," said the Indian legend.

"We need to make sure that we prepare well. We want to create a bunch of bowlers who are ready to play Test cricket at any given point. We need to be ready whe someone gets injured to test the bench strengths. you," he added.

Jasprit Bumrah was once again India's go-to bowler in a Test series, as he ended the two-match Test series against Bangladesh as the joint-highest wicket taker. However, upon being asked about Akash Deep, the legendary Indian pacer was full of praise for the youngster and added that he 'has a lot of heart'.

"Akash Deep has a lot of heart. He comes up to me and asks what will work on this wicket and what lines and lengths he needs to bowl. He is progressing well. Whenever he gets an opportunity to bowl, he gives his best. Hopefully, he goes from strength to strength," said the Indian pacer.

"Yeah, obviously after the World Cup we got a bit of break. We practiced a lot for the Test matches. We have a long schedule coming up. You need to know the number of overs you get to bowl. A lot of Test matches. Important to get small breaks in between and a bit of family time before we go back focussing on the matches. We have a big series in Australia and that is what he had a break," he added.
