ODI World Cup 2023: Hotel Room Prices In Ahmedabad Skyrocket For IND vs PAK Game- Report
ODI World Cup 2023: Even if booked three and a half months in advance, the price for the base category room is clocking a staggering Rs 50,000 per night, in some cases.
The schedule for the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 was announced on Tuesday (June 27), just 100 days before the start of the competition. The first match of the tournament will be played between the finalists of the previous edition of the tournament England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In fact, Ahmedabad has managed to bag all the high-profile fixtures of this year's marquee event including the high-profile India vs Pakistan fixture as well as the final.
Even as the first match of the tournament on October 5, still over three months far, hotel room prices in Ahmedabad have already started to skyrocket. As per a report carried by Times of India, even if booked three and a half month in advance, the price for the base category room is clocking a staggering Rs 50,000 per night, in some cases. The report has cited industry sources for the information. The same report in other times cost about Rs 6,500-10,500.
ITC Narmada's General Manager Keenan McKenzie also spoke to the publication and revealed how the India vs Pakistan game is receiving great traction and bookings have already started for October 13-16 period He also added that hotel rooms in the city are expected to be sold out on most match days. International cricket groups, fans, sponsors everyone has been inquruing about the hotel rooms, McKenzie said adding that there will also be a lot of VIP movement in the city for the World Cup fixtures especially the IND vs PAK game.
Notably, this will be the first time a Pakistan cricket team will set foot on Indian soil since 2012. India and Pakistan do not face off in bilateral cricket contests and take on each other only in multi-nation events like the ICC World Cup or the ACC Asia Cup. Their recent face offs have produced some memorable games that have gone down to the wire and fans would be hoping for a similar contest, come the World Cup in October.
