'Say It 1000 Times...': Mohammed Shami Has His Say On 'Jai Shri Ram' Chants

Mohammed Shami raised no objection to the religious 'Jai Shri Ram' chants during a media interaction.

Mohammed Shami, the Arjuna awardee Indian fast bowler, raised no objection to people chanting the religious "Jai Shri Ram" chants following the grand opening ceremony of Ram Mandir in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya last month. The mood mostly across the length and breadth of the country was submerged in the devotion of Lord Ram with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the way in the Pran Pran Pratishtha ceremony. The grand opening of the temple was also attended by several members of the cricket fraternity including Sachin Tendulkar, Venkatesh Prasad, Anil Kumble among others.

And now days after the opening ceremony, Indian cricketer Shami, who belongs to a different religious sect, has said that he has no objections in the religious chants and it doens't make any difference if someone says "Jai Shri Ram" or he shouts "Allahu Akbar".

"In every religion, you will come across 5 to 10 people who won't like the person from the opposite religion. I don't have any objection against it" Shami told News18, a clip of the viral clip from an interview to the media network has gone viral on social media.

"Like how the topic of Sajda came up. If Ram Mandir is being built, then what's the problem in saying Jai Shri Ram, say it 1000 times. If I want to say Allahu Akbar then I will say it 1000 times. What difference does it make?" he added.
