Instances Of Cricketers Suffering Brutal Injuries
Over the years, several cricketers have suffered brutal blows on the field.

Cricket is often seen as a 'gentleman’s game,' with strict safety measures and protective gear designed to safeguard players. However, despite these precautions, there have been instances where cricketers have suffered severe injuries on the field.
Phillip Hughes (Australia) 1988-2014: During a Sheffield Shield match, Phillip Hughes was struck on the back of the head by a bouncer from Sean Abbott. This tragic incident remains one of the most devastating moments in cricket history. Hughes succumbed to his injuries three days later, leaving the cricketing world in shock and mourning.
Ahmed Shehzad (Pakistan): Just weeks before the tragic Phillip Hughes incident, Pakistan's Ahmed Shehzad sustained a hairline fracture after being struck by a bouncer from Corey Anderson during a Test match against New Zealand.
Abdul Aziz (Pakistan): Before Phillip Hughes, Pakistan's Abdul Aziz was the only batsman to lose his life on the cricket field due to a bouncer. In 1959, while batting in Karachi, he was struck on the chest and collapsed. The 17-year-old had a pre-existing heart condition.
Tamim Iqbal (Bangladesh): On Monday, March 24, Tamim suffered a heart attack during the Dhaka Premier League and was urgently hospitalized. His condition remains critical, and doctors are closely monitoring him. He experienced chest pain and was taken to the hospital. While on his way back to the stadium, he felt discomfort again, leading to immediate medical intervention. Doctors are now reportedly performing a procedure to insert a stent in his coronary artery to ensure proper blood flow and keep the artery open.
Rachin Ravindra (New Zealand): Kiwi star Rachin Ravindra sustained a painful injury during the Tri-Series final against Pakistan on February 8. While attempting a catch, he took a heavy blow to his face as he lost sight of the ball under the floodlights. The impact caused bleeding, and he was immediately taken off the field for medical attention.
Raman Lamba (India, 1998): The Indian cricketer was struck on the head by a powerful pull shot while fielding at short leg during a club match in Dhaka. The impact led to a coma, and shortly after he succumbed to his injuries. He participated in 4 Tests and 32 ODIs, mainly as a batsman.
