Watch: World Champions Team India Board Special Flight From Barbados To New Delhi

Team India boards an Air India chartered flight from Barbados after being stranded in the island nation due to Hurricane Beryl.

Team India boarded a special Air India chartered flight from Barbados on July 3 (Wednesday). An Air India chartered flight arrived at Barbados Airport to bring Team India and stranded media personnel back to India. Indian team clinched the T20 World Cup 2024 title on June 23 after defeating South Africa by seven runs. Slated to return on July 1, Indian team was stuck until now due to Hurricane Beryl that caused heavy damage to the island nation and disrupted Indian team’s travel plans, leading to them being confined to their hotel rooms.

Indian Team Boards The Delhi-Bound Air India Flight

ANI reported that the Indian cricket team and stranded media personnel have left Barbados on a special BCCI-arranged Air India flight, coordinated by Jay Shah and will arrive in Delhi early on July 4.

“Indian cricket team leave from Barbados. The team will reach Delhi on July 4, early morning. The flight arranged by BCCI's Jay Shah is also carrying the members of Indian media who were stranded in Barbados,” reads the caption of the video posted by ANI.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) arranged the special flight for the cricketers, their families, coaches and media personnel. BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla initially announced the arrangement on Tuesday evening, mentioning that BCCI secretary Jay Shah is overseeing the situation.

“Thank God team India is flying back from Barbados this evening to Delhi. Will be reaching tomorrow evening . They were stuck for three days there because of massive hurricane. BCCI has made all arrangements for safe flight of players back home. BCCI secretary Jay Shah himself is monitoring the whole situation,” posted Rajeev Shukla in a post on X.
