Former India Wicket-keeper Batsman Parthiv Patel Announces Retirement From All Forms Of Cricket

In his retirement announcement, Patel thanked the BCCI and expressed his gratitude to former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly for showing 'immense faith' in his capabilities.The wicket-keeper batsman notched up 736 runs in 38 ODIs laced with four half centuries. Former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel on Wednesday announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. The diminutive gloveman took to his official Twitter handle to bid adieu to the sport. In his retirement announcement, Patel thanked the BCCI and expressed his gratitude to Sourav Ganguly for showing 'immense faith' in his capabilities.
"Today I announce my retirement from all forms of cricket, and as I bring down the curtains on this 18-year-old cricketing journey, I feel heavier with gratitude towards many. The BCCI showed a generous amount of confidence and faith in a 17-year-old boy to play for India. I have enormous gratitude towards them for being a guiding force and hand holding me, in the formative years of my young career," Patel wrote in a social media post.
Patel said that he is "especially indebted to Dada" (Sourav Ganguly) for playing an instrumental role in his international career. Patel represented India with distinction in 25 Tests, 38 ODIs and 2 T20Is in a career spanning almost two decades. Patel notched up over 11000 first class runs in 194 games with 27 tons and 62 half centuries. Led Gujarat To Ranji Trophy Title In 2016-17 Season The glittering moment of his domestic career was famously leading Gujarat to Ranji Trophy title in the 2016-17 season. Patel Tasted Success In IPL Winning Titles With Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings Known for his quick-fire cameos opening the batting in T20 cricket, the 35-year-old Patel played across six franchises in the coveted Indian Premier League (IPL). Patel was part of title winning teams with Chennai Super Kings in 2010 and the Mumbai Indians in 2015 and 2017. In 139 IPL matches, he racked up 2848 runs with the help of 13 half centuries.
