Hello and welcome to ABP's live coverage of India vs Sri Lanka first T20I. The Men in Blue will be starting their new year campaign by playing in a T20I series against Sri Lanka. The first match will be taking place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Indian team will step on the field without the services of regular stalwarts like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul.

Hardik Pandya will be leading the side and Suryakumar Yadav has been appointed as the vice-captain for this series. Team India have been struggling with its performances for a while now. They had a terrible T20 World Cup as they lost the semi-final and since then there has been uncertainty going on over a few senior players.

Young players like Shivam Mavi and Mukesh Kumar, on the back of their remarkable outing in IPL 2022, earned call-ups for India's T20 squad. Hardik’s team will look to win this series against the Lankans.

Sri Lanka on the other side, won the Asia Cup last year after they outplayed Pakistan in the final. But they could not continue their winning run in the T20 World Cup 2022. They will be looking to regain their form by winning this series.
