Womens World Cup: 7-Ball Over Was Bowled During PAKW Vs RSAW As Umpires Missed Ball-Count

It appeared that the on-field umpires, Jacqueline Williams & Sharfuddoula, missed the ball count during the 27th over which led to a 7-ball over being bowled.

An unusual thing happened at the Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui during the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup match between Pakistan women and South Africa women. A seven-ball over (without No-balls or wides) was bowled. It was in the 27th over of the match when Omaima Sohail was bowling to Wolvaardt and Sune Luus.

Pakistan had won the toss and invited South Africa to bat first.

After 26 overs, South African women's score was 87/2. Off-spinner Omaima finished bowling six balls and still bowled another one. It appeared that the on-field umpires, Jacqueline Williams & Sharfuddoula, missed the ball count during the 27th over which led to a 7-ball over being bowled. A single run was taken on the seventh (extra) ball that was bowled.

The reversal of this occurrence wasn't possible and the ODI's first innings ended up with 301 balls being bowled.

South Africa ended up scoring 223/9 in the quota of 50 overs. Sune Luus, the skipper top-scored with 62 runs. Pakistan women were 26/0 in 6 overs while chasing 224.
