Kerala Man Immerses Wife's Head In Boiling Porridge In Attempted Murder, Arrested
According to police, Derin, who was heavily intoxicated at the time, became enraged and physically assaulted his wife.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested by Vellikulangara police for allegedly attempting to murder his wife by submerging her head in a pot of boiling porridge. The accused, identified as Derin, a resident of Pulikunnele, Kuttichira, was taken into custody on February 3 following a violent altercation at his home.
According to police, Derin, who was heavily intoxicated at the time, became enraged and physically assaulted his wife. Witnesses claim he slapped her repeatedly before grabbing her by the neck and dragging her into the kitchen, reported Manorama. There, he allegedly forced her head into a pot of boiling porridge, causing severe burns.
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, sustained critical injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Chalakudy Taluk Hospital. Doctors have described her condition as stable.
Police Identify Derin As A 'History-Sheeter'
Authorities revealed that the altercation stemmed from a domestic dispute after the victim expressed her desire to return to her parental home, as per a report on Mathrubhumi. This reportedly provoked Derin, leading to the brutal attack. After the incident, Derin fled the scene but was later apprehended by the Vellikulangara police following a tip-off.
Authorities confirmed that Derin has a criminal history, including an attempted murder case registered in 2015 at Athirappilly Police Station, and is listed as a rowdy-sheeter in the Vellikulangara area since 2013.
Thrissur Rural District Police Chief B Krishnakumar (IPS) confirmed that Derin was arrested from Chaypankuzhi after a brief manhunt.
Meanwhile, in another incident, a man in Kerala killed his wife before dying by suicide at his home. The couple reportedly had differences that led to the crime. They are survived by two young daughters. On the day of the crime, an argument broke out between them, following which Krishnakumar shot his wife dead. He then drove back home in Kerala and, upon arrival, shot himself in front of his father using an air gun.
