Eng vs WI, 1st Test, Day 2: Windies On Top As England Lose 4/71 To Reach Lunch On 106/5

On day two at the Ageas Bowl, improved weather brightened cricketing hopes as the game on the second day started on time.

The fierce pace bowling attack of the West Indies cricket team, lead by Shanon Gabriel and captain Jason Holder started the second day of the first Test on a high as they managed to send back half of the English team to pavilion for 106/5 after 43 overs at Lunch in Southampton.
On day two at the Ageas Bowl, improved weather brightened cricketing hopes as the game on the second day started on time. The first run of the day helped opener Rory Burns attain a big milestone - first English to score 1000 Test runs since Alastair Cook in August 2007 against India at The Oval.
England resumed the play on 35/1. In-form Windies bowler Gabriel attained a second bowled dismissal in-form of Denly 18 (58). The Windies speedster bowled a brilliant 90 miles per hour delivery to rattle into Denly's stumps. Zak Crawley was the next batsman to the crease.
In the last 3 years, no Windies bowler has gotten more batsmen out bowled than Shannon Gabriel's 27 bowled wickets.
A few overs later, an excellent review by skipper Holder helped Gabriel pick his third wicket and dismiss the gritty Rory Burns for LBW after scoring 30 (85 balls). Ben Stokes was the next man to the crease.
With England at 51/3 after 26 overs, entered Stokes who undoubtedly had the big responsibility on him as a skipper and senior batsman. Crawley and Stokes looked to steady England's ship but failed miserably. A fine delivery from skipper Holder beat right-hander Crawly's 10 (26 balls) inside edge to crash onto his pads and yet another successful review gave Windies their 4th wicket.
The hosts England were put in a spot of bother after lost Ollie Pop for just 12 runs. Skipper Holder got his second wicket after Pope edged the ball to the keeper just 20 minutes until Lunch.
The opening day of the Test was marred by rain and saw only 17.4 overs to be bowled. At stumps, Rory Burns (20*) and Joe Denly (14*) remained not-out with the scoreboard reading 35/1. For Windies,  Shannon Gabriel was the only bowler who managed to take wicket by dismissing Dominic Sibley for a duck.
