'Should Have Named Players Who...': Sunil Gavaskar Reacts To Virat Kohli's Press Conference Bombshell
India's batting great Sunil Gavaskar has reacted to Virat's revelation, suggesting that the star batter should tell the names of those who did not message him.
New Delhi: Former India skipper Virat Kohli has finally managed to put behind his lean patch in international cricket by scoring over 150 runs for team India in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022, including two half-centuries. Only Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan has scored more runs than Kohli in this year's Asia Cup.
After India's defeat in the Super 4 match against Pakistan, Virat dropped a bombshell in a post-match presser, claiming that everyone had his number, but when he quit the Test captaincy, no one except MS Dhoni texted him. India's batting great Sunil Gavaskar has reacted to Virat's revelation, suggesting that the star batter should tell the names of those who did not message him.
"I don't know what the dressing room inside situation was with all these other players, I think, ideally, if he is named one person who got in touch, maybe the other people who didn't get in touch should have also been named. Then that would have been a little bit fair to everyone concerned rather than thinking everybody else didn't get in touch with him," Gavsakar was quoted as saying by India Today.
Here's What Virat Kohli said...
"When I left Test captaincy, I got a message from only one person, with whom I played in the past. It was MS Dhoni. A lot of people have my number, a lot of people give me suggestions, a lot of people talk about my game on TV. But out of those people who had my number, I didn't get a message from anyone else barring Dhoni.
"You have respect, you have a genuine connection with a few people and it looks like that (Dhoni messaging him). It's a two-way security, I don't want anything from them nor do they want anything from me. I don't feel insecure with him, nor does he feel insecure with me," said Kohli in the press conference.
