Shab-E-Barat: The Night Of Forgiveness
Shab-e-Barat is also known as the night of Maghfirat (forgiveness), as people stay awake throughout the night, worship Allah, read Namaz and the Quran, and seek forgiveness for their sins. According to Islamic belief, the worship performed on this night allows Allah to forgive all the sins of His followers and accept their prayers. That is why it is referred to as the night of forgiveness or Maghfirat.
Islam mentions five nights when Allah listens to the prayers of His followers and forgives their sins. Apart from Shab-e-Barat, these include the night before Friday, the night before Eid-ul-Fitr, the night before Eid-ul-Adha, and the first night of Rajab. These five nights are considered significant for seeking forgiveness and spending time in prayer and Quranic recitation.
