Magh Purnima 2025: On February 12, the Maha Kumbh royal bath will take place, attracting a large crowd in Prayag. You can earn the same divine merit by performing a bath and puja at home.

Magh Purnima 2025: Magh Purnima falls on the 15th or last date of the Shukla Paksha in the Magh month. It is known as Magh Purnima or Maghi Purnima. This year, Magh Purnima will be observed on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Taking a bath in the Ganga on this day holds special significance.
Magh Purnima is considered a divine day. It is believed that on this day, the gods also descend to Earth to bathe in the Ganga. Scriptures also regard Purnima as an auspicious time for bathing, charity, prayers, and fasting. This is why Magh Purnima is considered the best day for taking a holy dip in the Ganga.
Currently, the grand religious and spiritual event of the Maha Kumbh is being held in Prayagraj. On Magh Purnima, the royal bath (Shahi Snan) will also take place at the Sangam. With the conjunction of the royal bath and Magh Purnima, the number of pilgrims at the Ganga for the holy dip will increase significantly. In such a case, you can also perform the Magh Purnima bath and puja at home by following some rules. By doing so, you will earn the same spiritual merit as attending the Maha Kumbh.

Method To Perform Maghi Purnima Bath And Puja At Home
According to astrologers, for those who are unable to travel to Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh or to bathe in the Ganga river on Maghi Purnima, they can mix Gangajal in the bathwater at home and take a bath. While bathing, one should chant the mantra, "Gangey cha Yamune chaiva Godavari Saraswati, Narmade Sindhu Kaveri, Jalesmin Sannidhim Kuru." If you're unable to chant the mantra, simply meditate on Maa Ganga during the bath. Taking a bath in this manner provides the same spiritual merit as bathing in the Ganga.
On Maghi Purnima, along with bathing, worship and charity are also important. After bathing, first offer Arghya (water offering) to the Sun God. Pour water on a Tulsi plant. Perform special prayers for Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. After the prayers, donate sesame, jaggery, blankets, grains, clothes, etc., to those in need. If you're physically healthy, you can also observe a fast.
