- Typhoon Nanmadol Makes Landfall In Japan, Millions Asked To Evacuate. The powerful typhoon has weakened, but it has still uprooted trees, smashed windows and left rivers close to overflowing.
- Parts of East Leicester experienced serious disorder yesterday evening (Saturday 17 September) into this morning (Sunday) when large crowds formed after groups of young men began an unplanned protest. Two arrests were made - one man on suspicion of conspiracy to commit violent disorder and one man on suspicion of possession of a bladed article, Leicestershire Police said.
- President Droupadi Murmu met King Charles III on Sunday, a day before Queen Elizabeth’s state funeral, at Buckingham Palace. The funeral will take place on Monday at Westminster Abbey.
- Taiwan was struck by a 6.8 magnitude earthquake, causing a convenience store to collapse and trapping hundreds on mountain roads.

- Aam Aadmi Party leader Durgesh Pathak has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering investigation linked to alleged irregularities in the now-withdrawn Delhi's liquor policy.

- The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday carried out multiple searches in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in connection with the alleged terror links of local members of the Popular Front of India (PFI). Four persons were detained for questioning during the searches which were carried out at 38 locations in Telangana and two in Andhra Pradesh.
